Despertando a la vida arises from an extremely existential approach. In our society the authentic perception of existence has been lost. All we do is wander through what seems to be reality, and most of the time we are not even aware that we are alive. If we can only see 5% of the universe, how can we visually represent such an absence?

 

The works I present in this exhibition are the result of an experiment still in progress, and as such, as a pure experiment, always incomplete. A transitory and unfinished approach to the path that I wish to take. A sketchbook threaded without me caring too much about the fragility of those threads, which tries to recover what is lost and forgotten in a kind of floating and imprecise past/present.

 

The pieces propose different forms of fragility and also of transparency, in an exploration of the abandoned, the forgotten, of the spaces between things. It is in the space between one piece and another that the essence of the body of work lies.

 

The most insignificant things contain mystery and spirituality. What interests me is discovering or opening a crack in that triviality to show a glimpse of the miraculous, conceiving each work as a period of waiting for the extraordinary.

 

I do not intend to create images that illustrate or define. I prefer to suggest starting points, questions that stimulate. In this way, I propose a poetic micro-world, with its imperfections, its deeply toasted - and even burnt - areas and others still raw, half-baked. A map that, like any map, is transformed minute by minute, full of half-named or even unnamed spaces, always detachable, connectable, alterable and modifiable, with multiple inputs and outputs.

 

It is, above all, about leaving a mark on my existence, through inner images that investigate the sense of assuming responsibility for who I am.
