ALEXIS EDWARDS (Andalucía, 1971)
His need to discover a bucolic world leads him to develop his work in lands and cultures far away from his geographical environment. His images are always forceful and surrealistic in their technique, but at the same time his compositions achieve a disturbing juxtaposition of various stories, which means that they sometimes cross the border of sheer image to become theatrical pieces. If we look at his works, we close our eyes and let ourselves be carried away by a bucolic dream, in which Alexis Edwards invites us to participate in a kind of ?story? where he shows us the images and we create the plot ourselves.
In 1995 he met the Ufca Photo Gallery and starts to forge a photographic vision that was different from the academic one, in which the instinct of vision prevails over the technique. His works began to circulate in artistic circuits and he receives the visual support of the most prestigious critics, Juan Manuel Bonet (ex-director of the Reina Sofía Museum), Rafael Doctor (curator), Carlos Pérez Siquier, Soledad Lorenzo (Gallery owner), Alejandro Castellote (ex-director of Photoespaña), Ouka Leele (artist), Cristina García Rodero, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto, Chema D. Acosta (curator), etc.
