EMILIO MARIÑO (1964, Noia)
The conceptual sculpture in Galicia has in this artist one of its greatest reference. His artistic career shows us a process of development and maturity that can be observed by making a journey through his abstract sculpture, from its origins in lumber as working material, to the discover of the great plasticity of metal, which allows him to achieve the conceptual ideal that he pursues in the creation of his works. In his conceptual work, he tries to transform rigidity to movement, to create non-existent volumes, to contrast matter with emptiness, creating series as ?Argallando no espacio?, ?Notas en el aire? or ?Lecturas do silencio?. He is a sculptor who creates from nothing a world of concepts and traps the observer with the reduction of the artistic work to the abstract that characterizes him. Within his career it is worth to mention that he has worked in the abstract art atelier ?Pablo Ruiz Picasso? and has been student of the also conceptual student Martín Chirino.
