SUSO BASTERRECHEA (Ferrol, Spain,1968)
Graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Sevilla.
It is not easy to determine the different intimate, social or plastic aspects that determine the current aspect of my work. What I can say is that it is a slow process, where in a general way it can be said that the intention of making "art" has been replaced or complemented by the need to find effective tools, instruments, to give an answer, always open, to the different questions or situations in which my polyhedral life places me at any given moment. Drawing, sculpture, social activism, video, scenography, design, texts, posters, cultural management... are some of the many concerns or stages that make up my work. A variety of forms that share an interest in a commitment to the current context as well as a taste for relating to the physical space in which they unfold at any given moment. The installation is therefore, in any of the technical varieties developed, the most used form of action. - Suso Basterrechea
